Youth are often represented in accordance with popular or hegemonic notions of adolescence (stereotypes) ''A period of storm to stress characteristics by interrogational'' E.G. Tracy Beaker, Skins, Waterloo Road, The inbetweeners,
Youth are often ‘demonised’ by the mass media I chose this article as this was based on the 2011 London riots which was highly discriminated against by the elder generations. It gave teenagers a bad name and 'demonised' us. This article make all teenagers look rebellious and violent when statistically it was only a tiny proportion of the population
Youth are represented as being let down by adults I chose this article as it explains why the youth of today are so rebellious The Archbishop says: “We have to ask, what kind of society is it that lets down so many of its young people? That doesn’t provide enough good role models and drives youngsters further into unhappiness and anxiety by only showing them suspicion and negativity?” This shows that adults as well as youths have realised that we grew up with them as role models and if we turned out bad it is partly their fault. E.G. Wild Child, Tracy Beaker, Roal Dahl, Harry Potter
Alienation – youth are represented as being estranged from parts of society, particularly adult society. I chose this article as it shows how society are slowly getting rid of everything 'youth centred' and it shows how they don't count youth as part of their society they are being pushed away and separated from the rest of society. E.G. Skins, ''Trust gap between old and young is widening'' - Gardian.
Youth are product of the society they were born into, and often embody the faults and fears of adult society. E.G. Gossip Girl, Pirates of the caribbean, attack the block, Supernatural.
Representations of UK Youth are often nostalgic and romanticized I chose this movie as it shows the craziness of being a teen and also the nostalgicness of adults wanting to be young again, because in this case the protagonist gets to relive his teenage year and shows how perfect/unperfect teenage life is. E.G. The fault in our stars, Hannah Montanna, Love Rosie, One day, Freaky Friday,
